Global Charity Foundation
The Global Charity Foundation was founded in February 2007 and carries out a mission to provide health care and education assistance to the most needy in the United States and India.
In the US, we provide educational assistance for at-risk and underprivileged children through our Community Education Program in many different schools in greater Las Vegas. In collaboration with Southern Nevada Children First, we launched a Global Charity Foundation Health Care Program in May, 2015.
In India, Global Charity Foundation provides chemotherapy treatment for indigent children with cancer. Education assistance is also provided for street children in India. To learn more about our current programs, click here.
Dr Reeta K. Thukral immigrated to United States of America in 1973. She has been in the practice of medicine as a kidney specialist for over 35 years in the United States. She also has practiced medicine in India and New Zealand Dr. Thukral currently resides in Las Vegas NV.
Dr. Thukral is also Founder / President of Man Mohini Kaul Charitable Medical Trust in India
James Saavedra | Board Member and Vice President
Jim Saavedra is a registered professional engineer in the state of Nevada and is currently the Director of the Substation and Technical Operations Department at NV Energy. Jim has held numerous leadership positions at NV Energy. He has a Bachelor of Science Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics as well as a Master’s in Business Administration. He is a Board Member for the Family and Child Treatment Center of Southern Nevada (FACT). He resides in Las Vegas.
Renita K. Thukral | Board Member and Secretary
Renita K. Thukral lives in San Francisco, California, and runs an independent legal, civil rights and consulting practice serving public charter schools and their students across the country. She earned her J.D. from Yale Law School in 2001 and her B.A. from Stanford University in 1997..
Rohini KT McKee | Board Member
Rohini KT McKee received her Master’s in Public Policy at the University of Southern California’s Price School of Public Policy. Rohini is a management consultant with UPD. Prior to attending graduate school, Rohini was a Senior Business Consultant with IBM for three years. She specialized in Organizational Change Strategy. Rohini received her undergraduate degree from the George Washington University in 2005 with focus on political science and criminal justice. She resides in Pal Alto, California.
Richard Sullivan | Board Member & Treasurer
Richard Sullivan is the owner of Alternative Media Services, an audio/video production and marketing business. He is also co-owner of TLC Computer Solutions, a computer repair and sales retail business. Originally from Silver Spring, MD., Rich earned his B.A. in Radio, Television & Film from the University of Maryland, College Park. He has been involved in the Las Vegas community since 1988.
Doug Gold | Board Member
Doug Gold is a Wealth Director for BNY Mellon Wealth Management. Prior to joining BNY Mellon in 2017 he spent 18 years at a large regional bank in town. He was born and raised in Las Vegas and is active in several organizations throughout the valley. He attended UNLV and lives in Summerlin with his wife, Monika.
Monica Coburn is a Senior Vice President in Commercial Banking for Mutual of Omaha Bank. Prior to joining Mutual of Omaha Bank, she was a Senior Relationship Manager with Bank of America Merrill Lynch and has worked in a number of various positions within the industry including Regional Manager and SBA Lending Manager. She has been very active in Community and has received numerous award for her professional achievements and community work.
Stavan Corbett, Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, joined The Public Education Foundation in 2015. Stavan, a native of Las Vegas, served on the Clark County Board of School Trustees from 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, in 2010, Stavan was elected to the Nevada State Board of Education and served as President of the Board in 2012.
In 2013, Stavan continued service on the Nevada State Board of Education as a member appointed by Governor Brian Sandoval.
Currently, Stavan is a member of the Nevada Department of Education’s Parent Involvement and Family Engagement Council, Nevada Public Charter School Authority Board and the Southern Nevada Workforce Connections Program Committee.
Bart Patterson was appointed as president of Nevada State College on April 30, 2012 after serving as interim president for six months. Through his years of service at Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE), Bart is familiar with the mission of Nevada State College. In his role, he has established two top priorities. The first is to improve retention and graduation rates — which is a top priority system-wide. Secondly, to look at innovative ways to build NSC while dealing with limited state funding.
Jacqueline Nguyen-Lee – Immediate Past Co-President:
Jacqueline is an attorney who passed bars in California, Texas and Nevada with a practice focus on corporate transactions. Jacqueline serves as County and So. Nevada Legislative Chair and as a Board of Director for the American Medical Association Alliance overseeing national Membership. She works closely with physicians and serves on the Government Affairs Council for the NSMA. In the community, she is honored to work with the Springs Preserve Foundation Board for their Annual Fundraiser and as an Advisory Board Member of the Las Vegas Indian Chamber of Commerce.
